CVICU RN Job Details – Maryland Nursing Jobs

• Location: Towson, MD 21204 (Baltimore suburb)
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing job
• Unit: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Contract Length: 14 weeks
• Start Date: December 15, 2025
• Shifts: Rotating 12-hour shifts (07:00-19:30 & 19:00-07:30), 36 hours/week
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Holiday Requirement: As scheduled
• On-Call: 24-32 hours per 8-week schedule
• Floating: Required to MSICU as needed
• Patient Census: 3-5 daily, 6 beds, 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1970–$2110

CVICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• 2+ years of recent CVICU RN experience (first-time travel nurses with CVICU experience welcome)
• Active Maryland or Compact RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
• NIH Stroke Scale and CPI certification (The Calm Every Storm online version accepted)
• Epic EMR charting experience
• Ability to float to MSICU
• 2 professional references from recent employers (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN acceptable)
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Must live at least 50 miles from facility

CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from cardiac surgery and critical cardiac conditions
• Manage complex post-op cardiac cases: CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR, mitral clips, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, and more
• Provide advanced cardiac monitoring and interventions: hemodynamic instability, inotropic medications, open chest management, ECMO, CRRT, IABP, Impella
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, rapid response)
• Float to MSICU and participate in on-call rotation
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Follow infection prevention, isolation precautions, and hospital protocols
