Position Overview
Seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join us as Project Engineers on the NASA Dragonfly Program. Dragonfly is managed by Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). The program's mission is to explore Saturn's moon Titan using a rotorcraft lander, investigating its habitability, organic chemistry, and searching for biosignatures. The role requires combining project management skills with technical expertise to support Integrated Product Development Team efforts in designing, developing, assembling, and testing hardware.
Responsibilities include
# Work autonomously with limited oversight from manager.
# Collaborate with the Program Chief, other engineering disciplines, Value Stream Lead (VSL), Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to meet schedule, cost, and technical requirements.
# Support and lead multi-discipline technical teams.
# Facilitate project engineering tasks with various functional organizations to ensure alignment with project objectives.
# Manage project processes using scheduling, earned value management, and risk management.
# Respond to SRIs with other disciplines.
# Determine disposition for Quality Notifications (QNs) in SAP.
# Initiate Engineering Changes in Windchill and drive to closure.
# Support hardware assembly/test and address technical issues, investigations, and corrective actions.
# Track team performance and address execution problems.
# Monitor project revenues, costs, and re-estimate project costs monthly.
# Maintain and present project plans and progress reports.
# Participate in continuous improvement efforts for project execution.
# Uphold ethical and professional standards in all situations.
This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), technical experience, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams. Direct communication with program management and engineering leadership is expected at times.
