Key Responsibilities
Provides expert medical review for requests evaluating medical necessity
Reviews appeals for denied services
Conducts peer-to-peer discussions with referring physicians
Maintains necessary credentials and informs of adverse actions
Participates in strategic planning for Care Management
Required Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. degree
Current, active U.S. state medical license
Board certified in Neurology
Minimum of 5 years clinical experience
Recent practice experience in direct patient care (within the past 18 months)
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws
Familiarity with URAC and NCQA standards
Experience with automated processes and computer applications
