Job Description

Join Optum as a Patient Services Representative Associate, where you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing essential support and a compassionate presence. Your work will directly improve health outcomes by helping individuals navigate the healthcare system and access the services they need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greets and welcomes patients in person
  • Collects and verifies demographic, insurance, and benefits information
  • Checks in and interviews patients to complete required paperwork
  • Obtains and explains cost information to patients and collects co-pays
  • Addresses and resolves claim issues or registration errors
  • Provides customer service for inbound and outbound telephone calls
  • Assists in scheduling add-on appointments
  • May mentor other staff and gather medical record information
  • Supports dynamic needs of the healthcare environment with flexibility

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ months of customer service experience
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work standard daytime hours, Monday-Friday for the first 3 weeks after hire
  • Ability to work an average of 32 hours per week in 8-hour shifts
  • Ability to work every other weekend
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications

  • Revenue Cycle experience
  • General office experience
  • Epic experience
