Position Overview:



 

We’re seeking an experienced Med/Surgical Float Pool RN to join the team at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality care in a Med/Surg setting and demonstrate flexibility to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric patients
• Float to various Med/Surg and related units as assigned
• Maintain accurate patient documentation using Epic EHR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to ensure optimal outcomes
• Work flexible weekday, weekend, and holiday rotations

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience (required)
• Valid RN license (Compact or OH)
• BLS (required) | ACLS, NIHSS, CPI (preferred)
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Travel experience required

Skills Required:

• IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Central line and PICC management
• Blood product administration
• Dysrhythmia management
• Heparin and insulin protocols
• Wound and tracheostomy care
• Post-surgical and neuro patient management
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams

Patient Ratios:

• Typical Ratio: 1:4–5

Scheduling & Orientation:

• Orientation: 24 hours
• Must be available for 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Float to other OSU units as needed

Compliance & Submittal Notes:

• Strict compliance deadline: Tuesday prior to start date (no exceptions)
• Fingerprinting in Ohio required immediately after booking
• 2 professional references required (1 from a manager/director)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Locals accepted at same rate
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
