Job Description
Join Optum as a Senior Phlebotomist and play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care through specimen collection and laboratory testing. Key Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and specimen collection
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Process and prepare specimens for testing
Troubleshoot specimen collection and testing issues
Provide patient collection instructions
Perform waived and moderate complexity laboratory testing
Interact with patients and healthcare providers professionally
Maintain accurate records of patient information and test results
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Completion of a Phlebotomy Certificate program through an accredited school
Preferred Qualifications
Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-Pbt) certification
BLS (AHA) certification
Documented training program for CLIA regulation
2+ years of blood draw experience
Experience performing EKGs
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
Knowledge of laboratory information systems and electronic medical records
Solid organizational and time management skills
Proven ability to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to specimen collection
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
Proven ability to work with a diverse patient population
Thorough understanding of phlebotomy techniques and safety protocols
Knowledge of common safety hazards
Familiarity with EKG procedures
Understanding of HIPAA regulations
Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
