Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Smyrna, TN 37167 (Greater Nashville area)
• Healthcare Setting: Women’s Services – Labor & Delivery Unit
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/27/2025 – End: 1/26/2026)
• Nursing Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per month
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1470 - $1570
• Unit Details: 9 L&D beds, 3 swing rooms, 2 ORs, 3-bed OBED, 8-bed level 2 NICU
• Staffing: Unit Secretary, Scrub Tech, dedicated CRNA & Midwife in-house 24/7, OBGYN on call
• Documentation: CPN and Meditech

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Tennessee or compact state)
• Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certifications
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
• Strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care
• Ability to support patient choice and promote vaginal birth opportunities
• Advanced skills such as Spinning Babies and STABLE certification preferred
• Must adhere to dress code: hot pink and black (preferably hot pink top, black bottom)

L&D Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients and families
• Advocate for patient birth preferences, including vaginal birth support
• Circulate in the operating room and assist with procedures (IUPC, FSE, MgSO4 administration, postpartum hemorrhage management with JADA system, nitrous oxide)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare team: midwives, CRNAs, OBGYNs
• Float to mother/baby or other hospital departments as needed
• Maintain patient experience scores above 75%
• Promote couplet care and support breastfeeding, including donor milk availability
• Accurately document all care in CPN and Meditech systems
