Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), Needham at Boston Children's Hospital summary:

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) supports physical therapists by implementing individualized treatment programs and assisting in patient evaluations. They monitor patient progress, teach exercises and safety techniques, and utilize adaptive equipment to help patients recover. The PTA works closely with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure effective care and maintains documentation and safety standards.

Position Summary/Department Summary:
We are currently recruiting a 40-hour Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) for the soon-to-open Needham location (free parking!). This role is a key part of our care team, offering essential support to our therapists and playing an integral role in helping patients on their path to recovery. This is an immediate hire with initial training provided in Waltham/Boston before the Needham clinic opens in January 2026.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implements individualized physical therapy treatment programs as designed and directed by a physical therapist.
  • Assists in performing patient evaluations, administers and progresses treatment interventions, and teaches patients/families exercises and safety techniques as indicated by physical therapy plan of care.
  • Monitors and adjusts interventions in plan of care based on patient response.
  • Identifies and informs physical therapists of changes in patient status and communicates to physicians and other providers as needed.
  • Utilizes adaptive/supportive equipment and technology for patients to meet specific treatment objectives of physical therapy plan of care for patients
  • Trains patients, families, and/or caretakers in use/operation of prescribed orthotics/equipment, monitors effectiveness and initiates modifications as needed.
  • Reviews medical records, records assessments, diagnoses, and treatment in the patient medical record according to established documentation standards.
  • Delegates aspects of physical therapy plan and related direct patient care activities to physical therapy aides.
  • Identifies patients'/families' specific needs and incorporates into patient care as appropriate. Maintains safety of work environment.
  • Participates in other duties and responsibilities as needed to maintain daily operations

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
  • Associate Degree in Physical Therapy
Experience:

  • One year of licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) experience in adolescent sports medicine & athlete performance highly preferred
Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current Massachusetts license as a Physical Therapist Assistant
Schedule is M-F
