Base pay range $29.56/hr - $32.61/hr Job Summary The Safety Ambassador supports the Permanent Supportive Housing team and is responsible for promoting and ensuring a safe environment by maintaining a physical presence across Plymouth Housing properties. Location focus will be on buildings where incidents have been higher and where staffing ratios are low as determined by the Crisis Manager, Safety Management, Deputy Director of Permanent Supportive Housing or Chief of Supportive Housing Officer. This position will support staff who are providing support and trauma-informed care to residents who, as a result of trauma, may act out frequent verbal and physical aggression. Many of these incidents can be mitigated by rapport with residents and de-escalation skills. The Safety Ambassador will monitor cameras, be available to receive phone calls/radio from the buildings for backup support, rove the properties (using Plymouth funded means of transportation), walk with staff through the hallways conducting floor checks, walk with staff to and from their transportation before or after a shift if needed. In certain situations, the Safety Ambassador may be positioned at a building for a portion of their shift. If there is an active eviction of a resident, the Safety Ambassador may be positioned at that building during their shift. Safety Ambassadors will document interactions with residents and notify their supervisor of any safety concerns or risks noticed. The Safety Ambassador will maintain a high-quality safety service delivery based on the values inherent in Plymouth's mission, the principles of cultural proficiency, the tenets of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, the 'housing first' philosophy, and work towards maintaining a stable environment while fostering a sense of community. This is a regular, full-time benefited position. Essential Job Functions (Responsibilities, accountabilities, and competencies; may not include all duties of this job) Resident & Staff Services Liase with various buildings as directed, including driving across the portfolio during the same shift. Build professional relationships with residents to increase rapport. Steer and direct tenant questions to building staff. Partner and problem-solve with Residential Specialist and staff to address tenant/community concerns. Assist Residential Specialist staff in duties related to re-entry into individual apartments. Mediates conflict using de-escalation, conflict mediation, and other techniques as needed. Provide support, guidance, and oversight as directed by building staff and supervisors. Building Security & Safety Promote security and safety in accordance with policies and procedures. Ensure all entry doors are secure and notify maintenance if repairs are needed. Operate and respond to radio calls as needed. Support building staff in maintaining safety and security, including removing unauthorized guests and calling 911 if necessary. Conduct safety checks of floors, stairwells, and perimeter, promoting a safe environment. Reduce risks by providing de-escalation and physical intervention support during crises, and maintain safety logs. Interface with outside support agencies during higher risk situations. Analyze incident reports and records to assist investigations and trend analysis. Work with local authorities and first responders under guidance. Administrative Check radios at start and end of shifts. Support Payee Program Check distribution as needed. Share information with Crisis Manager during shifts. Communicate safety and security needs to management. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of resident information. Attend staff and team meetings. Promote teamwork and perform additional duties as assigned. Essential Job Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; 1+ years' experience in Security Operations; certifications in Self Defense, De-Escalation, WA State Security Guard, and a valid WA State Driver's License are required or to be completed within a reasonable timeframe. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effective communication with diverse groups and residents. Ability to act quickly and effectively in emergencies. Experience working with trauma-affected individuals and diverse populations. Ability to work independently and in teams, maintaining professionalism and safety. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office and databases. Desired Qualifications Experience with homeless or low-income populations. Background in social services, supportive housing, or mental health. De-escalation and conflict intervention skills. Self Defense Training (desired). Salary: $29.56 to $32.61 hourly.
