Job Description
As a Lead Veterinarian, you will support a team of veterinarians in delivering high-quality care to underserved communities through the ASPCA’s mobile and stationary clinics. You will lead a team, perform spay/neuter surgeries, and ensure patients receive compassionate care while helping to maximize the ASPCA’s impact in animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
Support new and experienced veterinarians in reaching their potential
Lead a happy, high-functioning team and ensure high-quality care for patients
Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at veterinary clinics
Train veterinarians in medical protocols and spay/neuter techniques
Coach veterinarians on effective communication with clients
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Fear Free® Shelter certification is required within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management experience strongly preferred
