Job Description

As a Lead Veterinarian, you will support a team of veterinarians in delivering high-quality care to underserved communities through the ASPCA’s mobile and stationary clinics. You will lead a team, perform spay/neuter surgeries, and ensure patients receive compassionate care while helping to maximize the ASPCA’s impact in animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support new and experienced veterinarians in reaching their potential
  • Lead a happy, high-functioning team and ensure high-quality care for patients
  • Perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgical procedures
  • Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients
  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at veterinary clinics
  • Train veterinarians in medical protocols and spay/neuter techniques
  • Coach veterinarians on effective communication with clients

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
  • Fear Free® Shelter certification is required within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience strongly preferred
