Our Sanmina Newark, California facility specializes in precision machining and metal fabrication, with 15 years of experience in serving industrial, semiconductor, clean technology, and oil & gas markets. We offer comprehensive engineering and testing capabilities, including in-house hydrostatic leak-testing of medium and large vacuum chambers, machining of components up to 3 meters, and various metal fabrication services such as grinding, vacuum welding, heat treating, plating, and anodizing. We work with materials including aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and exotic alloys.

Job Purpose

The Mechanical Estimator develops, analyzes, audits, and evaluates product cost information within established guidelines. This role interfaces with manufacturing engineering, design engineering, procurement, sales, and marketing to prepare product cost estimations for price quotations, new product design, internal cost information requests, and cost management initiatives.

Responsibilities

1. Work closely with the North American Sales team and global Sanmina plants to coordinate quotation generation and customer service support for sheet metal high-level assemblies.
2. Provide target completion commitments and distribute packages to Purchasing Coordinators, creating sheet metal labor hour estimates.
3. Classify BOM Make/Buy decisions and create dimension drawing packages from 3-D models for quotation purposes.
4. Review and ensure the completeness and accuracy of cost estimation packages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years experience in machine shop estimation.
• Experience coding complex assemblies with large BOMs and qualifying drawing packages for estimation.
• Knowledge of prints and drawings, organization of quotation packages, and Excel-based Bills of Materials.
• Experience in semiconductor contract manufacturing and vacuum application technologies is a plus.
• Ability to work within deadlines and independently.
• This position requires applicants to be US Citizens or lawful permanent residents, as it is an ITAR facility.
