Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian and make a significant impact on animal welfare in underserved communities. You'll lead a dedicated team, ensure high-quality veterinary care, and provide mentorship to new veterinarians while performing essential medical tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s CVC
Train veterinarians in HQHVSN techniques
Support a positive work culture through regular feedback and coaching
Ensure team members handle patients in a low-stress manner
Perform approximately 30-40 HQHVSN procedures per clinic day
Provide compassionate preventive and basic care
Guide direct reports to write and fulfill annual goals
Participate in veterinary medicine rounds and meetings
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Excellent work attendance record
Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management experience strongly preferred
