Shift Notes: 4×8’s followed by 5×8’s (32-hour guarantee)

On Call Requirements: 1 night call per week and 1 weekend per 4-week schedule

Position Summary:
The Surgical Technologist I functions as a vital member of the Operating Room team. This individual demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures, ensures all supplies and equipment are available and in proper working condition, confirms and/or assembles sterile instruments, and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. The CST is responsible for maintaining the sterile field, assisting in monitoring for breaks in technique, and keeping an accurate account of medications, sharps, instruments, and sponges.

Responsibilities:

• (30%)* Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and problem-solves in relation to the case being performed. Verifies items on the physician preference card and ensures supply accuracy for billing.

• (30%)* Demonstrates proper use and assembly of equipment, disposables, and instruments. Cleans and sterilizes equipment as needed. Ensures all instruments and supplies are assembled correctly and ready.

• (30%)* Maintains the sterile environment and recognizes breaks in technique.

• (10%)* Sets up the sterile field with instruments in a timely manner. Keeps accurate account of medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps per policy.

Submission Requirements:

• 3+ years of CST experience – Required

• Experience with Ortho, Sports Medicine, OB/GYN, Ophthalmic, and Urology – Required

• Proficient with C-sections – Required

• Travel experience – Highly Preferred

• NBSTSA Certification – Required

• BLS (AHA) – Required
