Job Description
The Senior Director of Behavior at the ASPCA will lead behavioral care for animals, ensuring their medical and behavioral welfare. This role involves managing a dedicated team, overseeing research projects, and fostering collaboration across departments to advance animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for animals
Ensure high quality, low stress patient and population care
Manage, coach and collaborate with staff
Lead research projects and share knowledge
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Comfortable with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Low Stress Handling – Silver certified or can obtain certification by end of first year
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Experience in shelters
Experience writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
