Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you'll support a dedicated team in providing quality veterinary care to underserved communities. You will lead and mentor new veterinarians while delivering compassionate care to animals in need, making a significant impact on animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s CVC
Train veterinarians in HQHVSN techniques and other medical protocols
Support a positive work culture through regular 1:1s and developmental coaching
Perform approximately 30-40 high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgical procedures per clinic day
Provide compassionate preventive and basic care to patients
Support internal ASPCA departments with medical consultations as needed
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management experience strongly preferred
