Job Title: MRI Technologist
Job Summary:
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by a radiologist. This role requires a thorough understanding of MRI safety protocols, patient care, and imaging technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate MRI equipment to acquire diagnostic images per physician orders and established protocols.
- Review patient history and consult with physicians to ensure proper imaging procedures are followed.
- Position patients appropriately and explain procedures to ensure comfort and cooperation.
- Monitor patient condition and ensure safety during imaging, including screening for MRI contraindications.
- Maintain accurate patient records, imaging logs, and documentation in PACS/RIS systems.
- Perform routine quality control checks and report equipment issues to biomedical engineering or service vendors.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and hospital policies regarding patient privacy and data security.
- Maintain clean, orderly imaging rooms and ensure proper stock of supplies.
- Assist with emergency care procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI (or eligibility to obtain).
- Valid state radiologic technologist license (if applicable).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical MRI experience preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of MRI physics, imaging protocols, and anatomy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction and teamwork.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety, accuracy, and patient care.
