Job Description

Albany Family Medicine is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their team, working Monday through Friday. This role offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including a potential $10,000 recruitment and retention bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Practice medicine with physician supervision including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions
  • Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients
  • Assess patient status by obtaining health history
  • Order/perform laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests
  • Treat illnesses, give injections, suture wounds
  • Monitor therapies and provide continuity of care
  • Counsel patient/family on preventive health care
  • Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development and other continuing education

Required Qualifications

  • License and active registration as a physician assistant or registered nurse/nurse practitioner in New York State
  • Bachelor's degree in physician assistant studies or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a physician assistant training program
  • Passing grade on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination
  • Current certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • At least one year of experience as a physician assistant in ambulatory health care
  • Current CPR certification
  • Successful completion of a nurse practitioner education program acceptable to NYSED
  • Current certification as a nurse practitioner by AANPCB or ANCC
  • Completion of pharmacology coursework acceptable to NYSED
  • At least one year of experience as a nurse practitioner in ambulatory health care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of professional nursing experience in an ambulatory setting
