Job Description

Join NewYork-Presbyterian as a Social Worker in the Self-Injurious Behavior Unit, providing essential care to young adults with diverse psychiatric conditions. Key Responsibilities

  • Function as a Treatment Care Coordinator and primary therapist for a case load of 7-8 patients
  • Meet with patients daily along with the attending MD and nursing staff
  • Facilitate family meetings and collaborate with outpatient providers
  • Perform psychosocial and psychiatric assessments
  • Develop individualized treatment plans
  • Participate in daily clinical team meetings

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)
  • Licensed Masters Social Work (LMSW) by the state of NY within 1 year of hire
  • Limited Permit (must supply exam date prior to start of employment)
  • Fieldwork or previous experience in a psychiatric setting
  • Knowledge base of bio-psychosocial model and DSM-IV diagnoses
  • Competency in individual, family and group treatment modalities
  • Conduct initial evaluations and psychosocial assessments
  • Knowledge base of community and discharge planning resources
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
