Key Responsibilities
Obtains patient history and performs assessments
Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies
Identifies health characteristics, develops care plans, and initiates interventions
Provides direct treatment and management of conditions
Counsels and educates patients and families
Documents healthcare delivery and nursing processes
Participates in orientation and education of staff and students
Collaborates with interprofessional team members for patient care
Implements innovative solutions to improve patient care
Integrates professional practice standards and leads improvements in patient safety
Required Qualifications
Master's degree
Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority
Credentialed by the Texas Board of Nursing or the Texas Medical Board
Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment
Ability to address individuals and information with high sensitivity and confidentiality
Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers
Capacity to work with trainees, including medical students and surgical residents
Highly proficient in hospital and clinic EMR documentation and Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience in surgical subspecialty including surgical first assisting
Experience in all aspects of thoracic surgery including in-patient management and out-patient procedures
