Position Summary

Emerson Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Obstetrical Nursing team. This role focuses on providing comprehensive care to neonates during high-risk deliveries and within our Level II Special Care Nursery. The RN will utilize the nursing process to deliver safe, high-quality, family-centered care in accordance with hospital standards, regulatory guidelines, and professional best practices.

The RN is accountable for the direct and indirect care provided, ensuring patient safety and supporting families throughout their experience. This position reports directly to the Director of Obstetrical Nursing or designee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide age-appropriate assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluations of nursing care.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized care plans for patients and families.
  • Safely delegate and supervise care provided by unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Participate in continuing education, in-services, and unit-based improvement projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to meet patient care objectives.
  • Deliver patient and family education to promote understanding and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Support colleagues through mentoring, precepting, and professional collaboration.
  • Provide cross-coverage as needed in Mother/Baby and Labor & Delivery units.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous neonatal special care nursing experience strongly preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current Massachusetts RN license (required)
    • BLS – Healthcare Provider (required)
    • NRP (required)
