GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with the Security, Policies and Procedures, and with the Internal Controls, to strengthen the security of the Company’s, and it’s line of business, network security systems. Reviews key aspects of architecture, design, security operations, and compliance to ensure optimal performance. Participates in special initiatives, integrating multidisciplinary personnel from different departments, to improve the security of our network systems by implementing tools, policies, and internal controls that help minimize risks in the management of information, following the organization’s goals and in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Reviews key aspects of architecture, design, security operations, and compliance to ensure optimal performance. Participates in special initiatives, integrating multidisciplinary personnel from different departments, to improve the security of our network systems by implementing tools, policies, and internal controls that help minimize risks in the management of information, following the organization’s goals and in compliance with all applicable regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Monitors security control indicators to ensure compliance with different service-level agreements and acceptable security level thresholds. Defines and implements corrective and preventive actions to ensure that such indicators are maintained within expected service levels.
• Designs security controls in compliance with security requirements. Evaluates, recommends, and implements new technologies to minimize risks through network systems. Leads the implementation of these technologies by coordinating with consultants and internal staff.
• Conducts, in coordination with designated personnel, operational risk assessments to start initiatives that lead to the problem's mitigation.
• Supports Internal and External Auditors with audit plans to develop projects and initiatives that mitigate audit recommendations.
• Responsible for the management of network security and network infrastructure equipment along with the company's business partner, who monitors security events. Serves as a primary contact for these events, along with the Security Incident Analyst. Maintains systems updated.
• Periodically reports on the vulnerability of the traffic and the Company's communication equipment. Ensures that remediations to vulnerabilities encountered are implemented to mitigate risks of information loss.
• Supports investigations of security incidents where there is a potential violation of the policies established by the Company and the security area.
• Identifies the security tasks that Service Desk personnel can perform to streamline processes. Coordinates, documents, and trains personnel to provide the identified service.
• Develops and documents procedures for operating and maintaining Company security controls.
• Actively participates in all matters related to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, delegated entities, and electronic transactions. Leads Security and Privacy projects to ensure compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the industry.
• Periodically analyzes the network security structure, looking to update IT communication designs and reduce unnecessary security exposures in systems. When required, serves as the third level of response to IT security incidents occurring in the Company (typically through actions on the security controls they operate).
• Participates in developing Information Security policies, procedures, and standards, as well as promoting compliance with international standards and regulations that apply to the Company.
• Must comply fully and consistently with all company policies and procedures, with local and federal laws as well as with the regulations applicable to our Industry, to maintain appropriate business and employment practices.
• May carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned, according to the requirements of education and experience contained in this document.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. At least three (3) years of experience in information systems security auditing, policies, and procedures, action plans, recommendations, and management of IT security-related platforms such as Firewalls, IPS, web application firewalls, proxies or reverse proxies, database access firewalls, network access control and encryption tools (VPN).

Certifications / Licenses: Some certifications in areas such as ITIL, PMI, CISA, CISP, and others in Security – preferably.
