Job Summary:

Receives and reviews provider orders for appropriateness and completeness. Communicates any order modifications to providers and provider office staff. Acts as a clinical resource for scheduling staff. Applies substantial knowledge and experience to perform a wide range of advanced activities and/or determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals; serves as working supervisor for team or work group. Supports diagnostic imaging services.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Three years' medical experience: Preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Receives and reviews provider orders for appropriateness and completeness. Provides concise and timely communication to providers and provider office staff regarding order modifications needed.
  • Acts as clinical resource for scheduling staff. Works closely with radiology RNs to coordinate specialized interventional radiology procedures. Monitors blood coagulation status of patients scheduled for invasive procedures. Adheres to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
  • Facilitates communication between patient scheduling staff and all user departments, providers, provider office staff and patients. Collaborates with radiologists via phone concerning appropriate diagnostic imaging.
  • Enter data into the scheduling system to assist in building scheduling rules and requirements. Records and submits order metrics to scheduling manager to provide accurate and up to date representation of order statistics.
  • Resolves or refers any complaints from physicians, provider office staff or patients.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
