Job Description
Join Uncommon Schools as a High School ELA Teacher and inspire students through literature while fostering a rigorous classroom environment. Your expertise will help prepare students for college and cultivate a love for reading.
Key Responsibilities
Teach a robust literature curriculum focusing on inclusive texts
Facilitate student-led discourse and develop reading, writing, and discussion skills
Analyze student comprehension and adapt lessons accordingly
Build positive relationships with students and their families
Engage in professional development and collaborate with colleagues
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities
Academic expertise in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or related fields
Eligibility for NY state certification
Preferred Qualifications
1-2 years of experience in K-12 education
Experience with diverse student populations
