About the Oregon Hazelnut Industry Office
This unified office represents four vital components of the hazelnut industry:
- Hazelnut Marketing Board (HMB) Oversees quality standards, statistics, and promotion under Federal Marketing Order 982.
- Oregon Hazelnut Commission (OHC) Funds and facilitates research to support hazelnut production.
- Nut Growers Society (NGS) Serves as the industry s trade association, focused on communication and grower engagement.
- Associated Oregon Hazelnut Industries (AOHI) Drives state and national regulatory and policy efforts.

What You ll Be Responsible For:
- Oversee daily operations and provide strategic leadership across all four organizations.
- Manage and develop a collaborative, efficient team (currently 3 staff members).
- Coordinate budgeting, financial management, compliance, and reporting across state, federal, and IRS requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison with over 1,000 growers, 15 processors, board members, state and federal agencies, and industry partners.
- Lead communications, public relations, and grower engagement efforts.
- Organize meetings, events, conferences, and trade shows.
- Work closely with lobbyists and regulatory agencies on issues impacting the hazelnut industry.
- Guide grant applications and compliance for research and marketing initiatives.
What We re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Leadership experience managing a team and organizational or association operations.
- Background in agriculture or agricultural industries.
- Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience in business, marketing, public administration, or related field.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Budgeting, compliance, and financial management experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks; WordPress and digital marketing knowledge a plus.
- Professional demeanor in high-stakes or opinionated environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with volunteer boards and committees.
- Familiarity with agricultural industry associations or expansion-phase industries.
- Experience with grant writing and administration.
