Job Description
Join Optum as a Patient Access Representative and play a vital role in enhancing patient care by managing registrations, insurance verifications, and financial discussions in a dynamic clinical environment. Your contributions will significantly impact health outcomes and advance health equity for communities.
Key Responsibilities
Communicates with patients and families to complete registration by collecting demographics and verifying insurance eligibility
Enters and verifies patient data in real-time ensuring accuracy
Gathers clinical information and processes referrals and authorizations
Verifies insurance coverage and collects patient co-pays
Identifies outstanding balances and collects payments
Confirms and creates scheduled appointments for patient services
Responds to inquiries from patients and caregivers with compassion
Generates and reviews patient data reports
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office setting, customer service setting, or phone support role
Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
