Med/Surg Tele RN Job Details

• Location: Maryville, IL 62062 (St. Louis Metro Area)
• Healthcare Setting: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Unit
• Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Contract Length: 26 weeks
• Start Date: January 18, 2026
• End Date: July 19, 2026
• Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1760–$1890 per week
• Patient Ratio: 5-7 patients per nurse
• Unit Size: 48 beds (private rooms, hospice, and negative pressure rooms)
• Orientation: 24 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Experience with Meditech charting system preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to float to other Medical/Surgical units as needed
• At least one supervisor reference required
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patient populations

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to adults and geriatrics with chronic and acute conditions (CVA, diabetes, renal disease, COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, etc.)
• Care for post-surgical patients (orthopedic, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, general surgery)
• Monitor and manage telemetry for patients with stable dysrhythmias
• Administer blood products and manage chest tubes, colostomies, feeding tubes, and surgical drains
• Perform wound care and wound vac management
• Initiate and maintain IVs, PICC lines, and peripheral nerve block catheters
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; respond to rapid response/code teams as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, social services)
• Maintain accurate documentation using Meditech
• Follow isolation precautions and infection control protocols
