Travel RN – Labor & Delivery Job Details

  • Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D RN)
  • Location: Lorain, Ohio (44053) – Ohio nursing jobs
  • Healthcare Setting: Level 1 OB unit, Level 1 Nursery
  • Shift: 12-hour Nights; every third weekend required
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 12/15/2025 – End: 3/16/2026)
  • Unit Details: 18 LDRP beds, 4 triage beds, 2 ORs; 60-65 deliveries/month
  • Technology: EPIC EHR, Obix for tracings, GE monitors for fetal monitoring
  • Ancillary Support: Secretary, OB tech, LPNs (based on census)
  • Provider Coverage: 24/7 in-house OBGYN and CRNA; Pediatricians and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
  • Scrubs: Provided on unit
  • Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,880 - $2,020

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (required for Ohio healthcare jobs)
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery RN experience (required)
  • BLS certification (required prior to direct patient care)
  • NRP certification (required within 6 months)
  • ACLS certification (preferred)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (preferred for fetal monitoring)
  • Recent OB, ED, or critical care experience (preferred)
  • Ability to flex between Labor & Delivery and Mother Baby units
  • EKG exam required
  • EPIC EHR experience (preferred)

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care for laboring mothers and newborns
  • Supervise licensed and unlicensed nursing staff
  • Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
  • Circulate and recover C-sections (scrubbing experience a plus)
  • Safely administer medications and interventions
  • Utilize EPIC, Obix, and GE monitors for documentation and fetal monitoring
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal maternal and neonatal outcomes
  • Support breastfeeding and discharge planning
  • Promote patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives
