Job Description
The Open Heart Intensive Care Unit (OHICU) is a 10-bed ICU providing specialized care for critically ill and postoperative cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, and general surgery patients aged 18 and older. The RN will be responsible for invasive hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and advanced cardiac life support, among other vital ICU functions.
Responsibilities
- Provide care for postoperative patients from cardiac surgeries including CABG and TAVR.
- Manage ECMO, IABP, CRRT, and other advanced cardiac devices.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and monitor hemodynamics.
- Administer medications including continuous IV sedation and cardiac drips.
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration for optimized patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families about care plans.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.
- ACLS and BLS certifications required; certifications in other advanced areas preferred.
- Experience with Epic charting system required.
- Charge experience in an ICU setting preferred.
