Job Description
Join Optum as a Patient Registration Specialist and play a vital role in enhancing patient experiences. You'll facilitate patient admissions and ensure the accuracy of demographic and insurance information, all while working in a supportive environment focused on health equity.
Key Responsibilities
Communicate directly with patients and/or families to complete the registration process
Respond to patient and caregiver inquiries in a compassionate manner
Obtain benefits and insurance verification
Point of service cash collection including co-pays and deductibles
Accurate computer data entry and document scanning
Organize and schedule patient services and appointments
Register and pre-register patients for various cases
Work with patient registration and electronic medical record systems
Generate, review, and analyze patient data reports
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
2+ years of experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
1+ years of customer service experience
1+ years of experience with insurance policies and procedures
Ability to work day shifts, Monday through Friday 7am - 5pm
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual fluency with English & Spanish
Working knowledge of facility pricing structure and cost estimates
Knowledge of ICD9 (10) and CPT terminology
Understanding of Medical Terminology
Previous experience in collecting patient copays, deductibles, etc.
