Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian and make a significant impact on animal welfare in underserved communities. You will lead a dedicated team, ensuring high-quality veterinary care while supporting veterinarians in their professional development. This role combines leadership, hands-on veterinary work, and the chance to help those in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the clinics
  • Train veterinarians in HQHVSN techniques and other medical protocols
  • Support a positive work culture of respect and teamwork
  • Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high volume spay/neuter procedures
  • Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients
  • Schedule staff veterinarians for optimal coverage
  • Participate in veterinary rounds and meetings

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Maintain open mind regarding changes and be willing to learn, implement, and teach new protocols
  • Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
  • Excellent work attendance record
  • Fear FreeĀ® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience strongly preferred
