Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers focused on the design, analysis, and testing of aircraft systems and components
  • Cultivate a safety-first mindset within the engineering unit
  • Collaborate closely with the FAA to navigate the certification process
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies emphasizing safety and reliability
  • Serve as the primary liaison for FAA representatives
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of technical documentation for FAA certification
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff on safety protocols and certification processes
  • Analyze and resolve complex engineering challenges focusing on safety
  • Monitor project progress and performance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience as a Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or Technical Standard Order (TSO) Certification Specialist
  • 9+ years of experience in RTCA DO-178(B/C) Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification
  • 5+ years’ experience in software engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 12+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or Technical Standard Order (TSO) Certification Specialist
  • Experience with concurrent software and distributed systems
  • 12+ years’ experience in software development life cycles, configuration management, and best agile software engineering practices
  • 9+ years’ experience developing, documenting, and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems
  • 9+ years’ experience leading software development projects
  • Experience using common software version control tools such as Git
  • Experience with Agile planning tools such as JIRA, TSF
