Job Description

Join Stanford University as a Science and Engineering Associate 2, leading advanced genetic and molecular biology research. Manage large-scale projects and collaborate across research groups to drive innovation in biological resilience studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support complex scientific and research programs related to area of specialization
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to oversee complex non-routine analyses
  • Carry out activities including troubleshooting and resolving routine problems
  • Collaborate to design and develop special purpose equipment and/or systems
  • Oversee a laboratory space or unit, and supervise the work of technicians
  • Serve as a resource in review of research proposals and capabilities
  • Establish, communicate, and enforce compliance with health and safety policies
  • Develop training manuals and safety guidelines, and train new users

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field
  • Three years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in molecular biology, genetics, bioengineering, or related field
  • 2+ years experience with CRISPR-based genetic screening technologies
  • Demonstrated experience with viral vector production (lentivirus and AAV)
  • Proficiency in molecular cloning techniques
  • Experience with flow cytometry and FACS sorting
  • Hands-on experience with single-cell genomics platforms
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and sterile technique
  • Familiarity with next-generation sequencing library preparation
  • Basic bioinformatics skills for analyzing pooled screening data
  • Experience managing complex multi-stakeholder research projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with project management
