Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements
  • Ensure complete and accurate entry of demographic information
  • Properly identify patients to avoid duplicate medical record numbers
  • Review assigned accounts for accuracy and required documentation
  • Meet CMS billing requirements and document compliance
  • Collect and enter required data into the ADT system
  • Verify information with patients at registration
  • Obtain required patient signatures
  • Scan required documents into appropriate systems
  • Identify and provide printed material hand-outs to patients
  • Follow downtime procedures for entering patient information
  • Follow EMTALA-compliant registration steps
  • Assess self-pay patients for presumptive eligibility

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department or related roles
  • 1+ years of experience working in medical terminology
  • 1+ years of experience in requesting and processing financial payments
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency
  • Ability to work on-site at the Emergency Department

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MS4 and Cerner
  • Knowledge of charity care programs and various government programs
  • Strong knowledge of both government and commercial insurances
  • Bilingual fluency
