Job Profile Summary:
Assists with the provision of patient-centered care in an outpatient clinic. Performs various clinical support tasks under the supervision of a physician within the organization's established scope of practice guidelines to ensure efficient patient flow.

Job Description – Major Responsibilities:

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and performing/documenting pertinent health information (i.e., chief complaint, allergies, and/or medications).
• Performs diagnostic procedures (e.g., strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.), including CLIA-waived testing and standard point-of-care testing.
• Assists the physician/provider and/or APP with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EKGs, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
• Administers routine medications, under physician/APP order, within scope of training but does not administer immunizations, antibiotics, or other vaccines or special agents.
• Provides basic patient instructions on the performance of routine tasks or skills.
• Provides patient care and support as directed for the assigned clinic and within the scope of training and competency.
• Communicates effectively with patients and other members of the health care team to ensure coordinated care.
• May perform basic and advanced technical support tasks or skills based on the specialty and patient population served (i.e., complex wound care, suture/staple removal, etc.).
• Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and use this knowledge to assist with patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served.

Licensure/Certification Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
