Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse with Postpartum experience to join our dedicated rural healthcare team in Port Lavaca, Texas. The facility is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH) designated as Level I for Maternal and Neonatal Care .

This role is ideal for nurses with strong assessment and fetal monitoring (EFM) skills , and experience in rural healthcare settings where adaptability and independence are essential. The department typically operates with a two-person team , with staff proficient in L&D, postpartum, and nursery care.

The unit averages 15–20 deliveries per month and uses OBIX as the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

• Contract Length: 14 weeks
• Holiday coverage: Required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Texas or Compact)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
• Proficiency in EFM, postpartum, and nursery care
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently

Certifications (Required or Preferred)

• BLS / ACLS / NRP / STABLE
• AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Additional certifications such as CPI, ENPC, RNC-OB, C-EFM, or TNCC are a plus
