Unit Description
- Unit: Family Birthing Center - L&D and Mother Baby
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring (copy required at submission)
Experience Requirements
- Travel Experience: Candidates may not have been employed by any CommonSpirit facility within the past year.
- Experience: Must have a strong background in L&D, including the ability to assist in deliveries.
- Preferred Skills: Experience in catching babies and working in the NRP role is highly preferred.
Essential Job Functions
- Patient Ratios:
- 1:2 L&D
- 1:1 during delivery
- 1:4 for Mother/Baby couplets.
- Documentation: Use of Cerner EMR for patient records.
- Weekend and Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and rotate holidays with core staff.
- Floating: Will float to other Sacramento facilities as needed.

- Physical Demands: Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips; no ventilation management required.
- Orientation: 1-2 days on the floor with a preceptor.
- Cancellation Policy: Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
Scenarios for On Call/Standby
- On Call/Standby: If called in during the first 4 hours of standby, regular pay applies after that period.
- Low Census Notification: Report at the end of the first 4 hours unless notified otherwise.
- Cancellation Codes: Specific coding for shifts canceled due to low census or standby.
