Job Description

Join Mount Carmel Health System as a Cook, where you will prepare food for patients, the cafeteria, and catering services. This part-time role offers flexibility and the chance to make a difference in the community through exceptional culinary service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain appropriate ingredients from storage areas for recipes
  • Lift and carry medium to heavy food and equipment
  • Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian
  • Conferring with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation
  • Review menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items
  • Complete all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or 1-year equivalent experience with commercial production food service
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Food handlers’ certification within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant work experience in a hospital setting, large institution, or commercial kitchen
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of large quantity standards of cooking
  • Knowledge of food preparation by recipe
