ER RN Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
• Active Compact RN license or Maryland Registered Nurse license
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
• Experience with Cerner charting system
• Clinical skills: conscious sedation, telemetry, triage, ventilator management
• Willingness to work holidays
• Two supervisor references required

Emergency Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients
• Perform triage, assessment, and emergency interventions for cardiac, respiratory, stroke/neuro, ortho, oncology, GI/GU, and trauma cases
• Administer emergency medications and manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG, perform phlebotomy, start and maintain IVs
• Conduct procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Manage ventilated patients and operate specialized ER equipment (rapid infusers, GE monitors, Alaris IV pumps, Zoll defibrillators, bear hugger, artic sun)
• Participate in rapid response and interdisciplinary support teams
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:5 during all shifts
