Key Responsibilities
Provide patient-oriented service in a clinical or front office setting
Perform clerical and administrative duties related to patient care
Communicate with patients and families to complete the registration process
Utilize computer systems to enter or verify patient data
Gather clinical information and process referrals and authorizations
Verify insurance coverage and benefits
Collect patient co-pays and discuss financial obligations
Identify outstanding balances and attempt to collect amounts due
Generate and analyze patient data reports
Maintain knowledge of registration requirements across various units
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
1+ years of experience in a hospital, office setting, customer service setting, or phone support setting
Influenza vaccination for the current flu season or commitment to receive it when available
Ability to work onsite in Portland, ME
Ability to work on a Per Diem basis, irregular shifts including weekends and holidays
Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department or any medical setting
Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
