Job Description
Join the ASPCA as the Senior Director of Behavior to lead a dedicated team in providing exceptional care and rehabilitation for animals while driving innovative research in animal behavior. This role is pivotal in ensuring the welfare of animals and enhancing their chances for adoption through high-quality behavioral interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for animals
Ensure high-quality, low-stress patient care
Manage and coach behavior staff
Lead research projects related to animal behavior
Collaborate with various teams for integrated animal care
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Ability to work well within a team
Comfort with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Low Stress Handling – Silver certified or ability to obtain certification within first year
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in shelters
Experience developing/overseeing research projects
Experience writing scientific publications for peer reviewed journals
