Candidate Requirements
- Minimum Experience: 1.5 years of experience is required, with a preference for 2 years of previous charge experience.
- Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS*
- Skills:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Accessing ports
- Blood Product Administration
- Peripheral Line Care/Management
- Phlebotomy
- PICC line management
- Starting IVs
- Care of Ventilated Patient
- CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) care
- Isolation Precautions
- Nasal Cannula and Oxygen face masks management
- Tracheostomy Management
- Stable home vents
Facility & Unit Details
- Unit Type: Progressive LOC Stroke Unit
- Patient Ages: Adults, Geriatrics
- Patient Ratio: 4-5 patients per nurse (Days, Nights, and Weekends)
- Daily Census: 18
- Number of Beds: 18
- Floating: 100% required; may be floated within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital.
- Charting System: No specific charting system required for IU Health positions.
- Interdisciplinary Support: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and a Unit Secretary.
- Weekend Coverage: Required.
