Job Description
Join Optum as an Emergency Department Patient Registration Representative, where you will provide essential patient-oriented services in a fast-paced environment. Your role will involve greeting patients, verifying insurance, and ensuring a smooth registration process while making a direct impact on health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics and health information
Enter and verify patient data in real-time using computer systems
Process referrals, pre-certifications, and pre-authorizations according to insurance plan requirements
Verify insurance coverage and create price estimates
Collect patient co-pays and discuss out-of-pocket financial obligations
Identify outstanding balances and attempt to collect amounts due
Respond to patient inquiries compassionately and respectfully
Generate and analyze patient data reports
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
1+ years of experience in a hospital, office setting, customer service setting, or phone support role
Ability to work dayshift hours during the duration of new hire orientation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
