Job Description

We are seeking a full-time *Director of Perianesthesia Care Services *to join us at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. You will ensure seamless delivery of care across the pre-admission, hold and prep, and post-anesthesia phases of the perioperative process.
*Responsibilities:* * Mentor a team of clinical managers, nurses, and support staff across the Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Hold & Prep, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) departments * Develop and maintain standardized clinical pathways that guarantee a seamless, efficient, and safe patient journey from pre-admission to recovery * Coordinate the integration of pre-admission testing, surgical preparation, anesthesia handoff, and post-operative recovery, ensuring continuity of care at every stage * Lead initiatives to reduce handoffs and minimize communication gaps between departments, ensuring vital patient information is shared seamlessly throughout the care continuum * Supervise cross-training programs for personnel in the PAT, Hold & Prep, and PACU departments to boost adaptability and enhance teamwork * Collaborate with physician offices and inpatient care units to synchronize perioperative processes and launch joint improvement projects, including decreasing day-of-surgery cancellations, enhancing patient education, refining handoff procedures, directing inpatients to the operating room, optimizing PAT scheduling, and improving surgical preparation and post-operative results * Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards * Oversee patient flow from pre-admission to recovery, ensuring prompt transitions and reducing wait times
*Qualifications*: * 5+ years of healthcare leadership experience, specifically in perioperative services Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university * Master’s degree in nursing or a related field like healthcare administration or equivalent * Current RN license in RI (or a state that participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact) * CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse), CPAN (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse), and/or CAPA (Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse) preferred * NE-BC (Nurse Executive-Board Certified) or CENP (Certified in Executive Nursing Practice) preferred * American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required * Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) for process improvement and operational efficiency preferred
