Key Responsibilities
Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations
Facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel
Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances
Determining admissibility of individuals for entry into the U.S.
Preventing illegal entry and smuggling of contraband
Required Qualifications
U.S. citizenship
Residency in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years
Age limit: must be referred before turning 40 (some exceptions apply)
Three years of full-time general work experience or a bachelor's degree for GS-5
One year of specialized experience or a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement for GS-7
Preferred Qualifications
Prior law enforcement or military law enforcement experience
