Key Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs.
Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
Performs assessments as per unit standards and documents on appropriate data base/assessment flow sheet.
Initiates, utilizes and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care.
Administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physician.
Identifies and meets patient and family learning and discharge needs.
Evaluates patient progression toward outcomes per unit policies.
Performs competently in emergency situations.
Delegates or assigns aspects of patient care to healthcare team members.
Assumes responsibility for the clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.
Provides leadership through communication about and validation of patient care.
Assists with various procedures, treatments, surgical techniques.
Completes patient population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing.
Demonstrates competency in required psychomotor skills.
Assists in orientation of new staff or students.
Assumes other leadership roles as required by the department.
Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in Nursing
State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
BLS certification
ACLS
PALS
One year of Cardiac Experience
