Join Chesapeake Oncology Hematology Associates as an Optometric Assistant, where you'll play a crucial role in supporting patient care in a collaborative environment. You'll be responsible for patient intake, preparing injections, and assisting with various medical procedures while ensuring compliance with health standards.
Key Responsibilities
Escort patients to and from the exam room and complete patient intake
Clean and straighten exam room between patients
Prepare syringes and administer subcutaneous and intra-muscular injections
Assist provider with injectable procedures
Prepare pathology and lab specimens and route them correctly
Respond to patient questions in office and via phone
Schedule or re-schedule appointments
Work in compliance with OSHA and HIPAA standards
Maintain medication samples and keep records
Train other employees on medical assistant duties
Assist with check-in or check-out procedures
Required Qualifications
At least one (1) year of medical assisting experience
Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant program
Professionalism and strong customer service skills
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with doctors
Ability to communicate professionally and friendly with patients and co-workers
Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds
Ability to stand for prolonged periods
