Key Responsibilities
Assist and support surgeons by preparing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures
Facilitate a safe and effective operating room environment
Perform instrument counts and maintain accurate count of sponges, needles, and instruments
Secure and prepare all supplies and instruments required for surgical intervention
Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment
Monitor patients during surgery
Perform scrub functions and ensure the maintenance of the sterile field
Required Qualifications
HS Diploma or GED
Short-term training in operating room setting or surgical technician certification from an accredited school
Current BLS certification
Familiarity with all surgical instruments and equipment
Working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique
Minimum of 2+ years experience in a hospital or outpatient operating room if not from an accredited training program
