Medical/Surgical RN Job Details

• Location: Martinsburg, WV 25401 (West Virginia nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care – Medical/Surgical Unit (5th Floor)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/18/2025 – End: 2/17/2026)
• Nursing Shifts: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week), every other weekend, holidays as needed
• Unit Size: 35-42 beds (mix of semi-private and private rooms)
• Charting System: Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (open to candidates awaiting licensure)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical/Surgical RN experience in a U.S. acute care setting
• BLS certification (AHA required); ACLS preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Proficient in basic arrhythmia recognition and management of fatal rhythms
• Ability to float to other Med/Surg units as needed (excluding ED and Behavioral Health)
• Professional appearance: Navy blue scrubs, natural hair color, and tattoos must be covered if excessive or distasteful

RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with a range of conditions, including altered mental status, cardiac, renal, oncology, stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), wounds, and more
• Monitor and manage patients on IV drips (Heparin, Protonix), BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy (available 24/7)
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
• Participate in unit-based orientation (1-2 shifts with a preceptor)
• Work every other weekend and holidays as required by the unit
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and patient-centered environment
