Key Responsibilities
Securing borders and stopping illegal activity
Questioning individuals and inspecting documents and property
Apprehending undocumented individuals or smugglers
Tracking and interpreting signs of illegal entry
Performing various checks (farm, traffic, building, etc.)
Patrolling using various modes of transport
Required Qualifications
One year of specialized experience at the next lower level for GL-9
One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade for GS-11
U.S. Citizenship
Residency in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years
Age limit of being referred before turning 40 (with exceptions)
Preferred Qualifications
Current or prior law enforcement experience
Experience with military police or local/state law enforcement
