Key Responsibilities
Patient diagnosis and treatment
Conduct hearing exams to identify and diagnose hearing loss, balance disorders, and related issues
Analyze and interpret test results to determine the type and severity of hearing loss
Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs
Device management: fit, dispense, and program hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other assistive listening devices
Provide training and counseling on how to use these devices effectively
Perform follow-up evaluations to ensure devices are working correctly
Counsel patients and their families on managing hearing loss and communication strategies
Address the psychological effects of hearing damage
Develop and implement hearing conservation and hearing loss prevention programs
Educate the public and specific populations about hearing health
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to advance the understanding of hearing and balance disorders
Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program
Audiology license in IL
